Java News! Here is the last of my chicks in the new style nest box, I have now got to make 12 more of these one for each breeding cage, after trying this box with my Java's it worked and made inspecting the box much easier for me, I have always put a small perch on nest boxes to make entering the box easier, on this box I did not use a small perch, this did not stop the java's using it, they are in and out with no problems, so now when it comes to stacking the 12 nest boxes I have no perches to worry about. |

This poor little chick has had a bad start to life, the parents did not feed it when it hatched, two days past so I took out the other two infertile eggs I was keeping in the nest to stop the hen sitting to tight, after removing the eggs the parents then feed the chick which was at deaths door buy this time, it was very dehydrated and limp, it did pick up after the feed but the parents are not feeding it as they should the crop is empty more time than it is full, I am hoping it makes it to fledge, I will keep you posted. I have now stopped breeding to give my Java's a rest and myself, all the java's are now in the main flight, cocks and hens together with access to an outdoor flight for fresh air and sunshine |

Java News! Not much to report about this week as all the Java's are free flying in their outdoor flight, what I have notices is a pattern to their day, most mornings around 10 ish! they come from the bird room to the outdoor flight and fly up and down for half an hour then sit on perches until 12 ish! they will spend the rest of the day indoors until 3 ish! at this time they all descend on the aviary floor and start a bathing ritual for an hour or so, the rest of the day is spent preening their feathers and drying out, about 6ish! they come back indoors and spend the rest of the time here until the lights go off. This patton of behavior only changes when the weather is to bad to go outdoors. In the photo I am showing you what I feed the java's as an extra to their normal daily seed intake, its all grated vegetables like carrots and Broccoli apple, plus a heap of dried egg food to bind it all together, all so i will put a whole lettuce in once a week and let the pick at it. |

Budgie News! I have paired a sky blue cock and a dark green hen and all of their chicks have turned out to be sky blue so I will be looking into that to find out why they have all turned out sky blue, I know the hen is split blue but it seems odd not to get at least one green, especially as green is the dominant colour. |

This week I have had three chicks hatch from my clear body pairing, so they will all be visual clearbodys as their parents are also 2 visuals. |
