Here is a book that makes accurate bird record keeping so simple it's easy for newcomers to the hobby to use and also for the more experienced bird keeper.

The compiling of accurate records with regard to the breeding and exhibition of cage birds is generally accepted as essential if one is eventually to produce a close knit stud of good quality stock. ‘The Recorder’ Breeding and Flock Register, has been designed by a breeder and exhibitor of birds following closely the lines employed by him in record keeping within his own stud for many years. This will enable you to keep an accurate check of your own workings and it is intended that this be developed on a progressive basis so that at any future date reference may be made to the relevant register and information obtained with the minimum effort.

The Book: I have set this book to hold enough records for twenty breeding pairs. You can add more by printing off the templates required. The book has 36 pages and is ready to print straight away, as this book is a PDF File. I have given it one page of two pedigree cards. You can print this one page as many times as it takes to obtain enough cards as required, plus if you make any mistakes when filling in any templates, you can always print a fresh page to replace the one you made the mistake on. The book is for 2010 breeding and has the 2010 ring colour on the front & back covers (Orange) Next year, 2011 there will be another book with a new ring colour, so over each breeding year you will build a catalogue of easy to recognize ring colour books. When you catch a Java with a Orange ring you only have to open the Orange book for the records, it's so easy to use this register book!

Tips For Printing: I use thin white card (160gm) for the front & back covers, the pedigree cards and the nest box cards. The rest I use a good quality paper. When the book is printed use a paper punch, so the book can be held together with a fastening device (the left hand margins are set to leave space for holes).

What You Need For This Book: You will need to be using closed rings with the year and consecutive numbering in order to use this book properly, also you will need a printer plus adobe acrobat reader installed on your computer.
