Firstly my apologies for the lack of up-dates, we have been away for six weeks in the caravan and fishing,
popping home at weekends to water and feed the birds.
See where we stayed: www.leggefarm.co.uk.

My silver chick has grown and fledged now, the good news is my original silver/Isabel hen has three chicks
in the nest, she has been bread with a Silver cock, all three babies are looking silver.

Here is the silver baby hatched last month, using one of my
silver cocks and using one of Steve Nesbitt's hens, I am keeping my fingers crossed to see if the bird has clean
cheek patches, the two parents have had a second round
of seven eggs, sadly all seven are clear, I have now split the birds up, and will using the breeding cage for another pair.

Here are the new additions, three silver chicks bred using
one of my old hens from my last set-up three years ago,
this will be the last time I will breed from her as she is not looking to good, with this round of chicks.

Just a small update, I took my son to his first bird show at the weekend, he had an excellent day there | See More |
After spending some time with these budgie men and seeing how they breed and feed their birds, it has inspired me to try some new things with the Java sparrows on how I feed and breed, I will be posting new photos of the changes here soon, I am just waiting for my new feeding tool to arrive off E-Bay and I will show you!

Good news the pastel hen has got two eggs at the moment, more to follow I hope! I have used the silver/Isabel cock with her, I did try this hen before
with another pairing but she was not interested at all, I am not sure
how old this hen is, but looking at her legs I don't think she is a
young bird, I am not sure what this pairing will give me, if you
know drop me an e-mail | Mail | and don't say more Java's LOL!!
